Last Sunday at St Annes saw the latest action in the 1/8 National on-road series. With a fabulous Sunny day the event got off to a fast start with time nearing the best we have seen all season. This carried through to the final with the winner Ian Campbell posting 112laps in 30mins and equalling the current laps record over the 30mins held by last year Championship winner Clive Connolly. 1st Ian Campbell 2nd Micheal Byrne 3rd John Delaney

Team Ireland Travel to Italy  With the Irish National series now underway, it's now time for some of are 1/8th drivers to take time out from the Irish Series and head to warmer climates for this years opening European 1/8th Event in Cassino, Italy. Three Drivers from Ireland ( Clive Connolly, Austin Elliot and Darragh Fox ) are making the trip to this event, to flight the flag for Ireland and i am sure everyone wishes them all success during this week long event. Great weather greeted the drivers on Sunday with the outlook for the days racing looking good. Qualifiying was a close affair with 4 drive only seperated by a few seconds but it was C.Connolly who took the top spot with a fantastic 20laps in 5m12s . A slow start to the final lead to a bunchup at the first corner. With the top 4 drivers getting the best start and a clear track while behind many drivers ended up trading places over the first lap. It was Connolly who took control and lead throughout the race to take the top spot, with the other poduim places being fought for through out the 30mins. In the end it was 3rd on the grid A.Elliot who finished in 2nd with C.Whelan who started in 8th finishing of the podium in a fine 3rd. Congratulations to all who took part

RCCAOI nitro on-road season for both 200mm and 1/8th scale kicks off next weekend at St Annes Park. Race is the first in a series of events being held at the purpose built track. Registration on the day will be open from 9:00 to 9:30, drivers can also avail of the on-line pre-registration which will be running up till friday night. See further details on www.orcaireland.ie .
