Mick Bolger sees off the opposition to claim the 2009 4wd championship title.

1st Mick Bolger

2nd Derek McCloskey

3rd Tony Kavanagh

It was a tough day overall for man and machine with a quick pace being set from the get go. In the qualifying rounds it was Bolger who out qualified Derek McCloskey by a mere 0.105 of a second during the second round of heats with third on the grid going to Tony Kavanagh after a fine run reach 15laps and only a few seconds down on the top two. Behind were a number of seasoned veterans who could take advantage of any slip ups made by the top three to seek a podium place.

During Leg 1 it was Bolger who won with his closest rival McCloskey from the heats suffering problems and dropping down the field. Kavanagh after a fine qualifying run stuck in a solid run in the first leg to claim 2nd and Michael O'Leary finished of the top three in Leg 1. Nigel Dungan made the biggest move of the Final moving up 3 places from his starting position of 7th on the grid to claim 4th in Leg 1.

Leg 2 saw McCloskey making up for errors in the first round. Driving the wheels of his car he kept it lit in leg 2 and claimed top spot after the 5 mins where up, this gave him 2 second overall for the day. Bolger kept it clean in leg 2 after having already claiming the title with maximum points from qualifying and Leg1. Tony rounded of his performance with a third place finish in leg 2, combined with his previous points this was enough for him to claimed third place overall for the day.
